Personal projects
This page is just for fun. It’s where I post work that I’ve done on the rare occasions I’m not working on commissioned projects. It’s a good opportunity to realise ideas which may not otherwise see the light of day. It’s also a great way of practising and self-teaching new techniques, methods and workflows.
Gently Down The Stream
This short was cut from the footage I shot on holiday in Vietnam. It’s just a snapshot of a few hours meandering about on one of the many tributaries of the Mekong Delta.
The Sandals Game
I stumbled across this game on Christmas day in Chau Doc, in the Mekong region of Vietnam. Kids of this age usually run up to tourists like me to high-five me, scream hello in my face, laugh at me or all of the above. This lot, however, pretty much ignored me as they were fully engrossed in The Sandals Game.
Rainbow
A very short animation made for fun.
Of Time & Stars
This was shot on holiday in the middle of Spanish nowhere. It’s a tongue-in-cheek, self-indulgent exercise in film making. It’s my response to the genre of meaningless art-films which have become ubiquitous with the growing popularity of digital SLR cameras.
Pretty Planes
These motifs use layouts inspired by the geometric principles of sacred Islamic art to create beautiful and intricate illustrations from military vehicles. One day I’ll animate these…

What We Should Have Said
A satirical take on the plaque sent into deep space aboard the Pioneer 10 space probe. The original Pioneer 10 plaque was designed to communicate what and where we are to any intelligent life that may one day intercept the probe. It’s probably the most ambitious piece of communication design ever undertaken. It is a little flawed in its execution though. For example, this depiction of the human race looks suspiciously caucasian and it was even deemed too vulgar to include the female’s genitals. It’s these such discrepancies which I’ve poked fun at with this project. The original designers, however, can’t have foreseen Pluto being downgraded to a dwarf planet in 2006.

That’s all. Return to top
